Bays, Coves & Forests

Like a falcon’s nest, Gökçe Gemile is perched high above a series of southwest facing bays; a rugged landscape of cliffs, fringed with pine trees, woodlands and a profusion of wild oregano, which overlooks the sea and the islet of Balaban in the middle distance.

Accessible only by Gökçe Gemile’s private inclined lift, or by boat, the bay has many secluded coves, framed by rocks and the crystal clear water, some of which have small sandy beaches. Ideal for sunbathing and swimming, they offer a great alternative to relaxing by the private pools.

Guests may relax on the shady decks, one for each villa, which are built over the water. On the main beach there is also a clubhouse and kitchen, where the Gökçe Gemile team prepares breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner, according to guests’ requirements.

There is a small motor boat, used for trips around the bay. It can also be used to visit the nearby islet of Balaban, which is great for snorkelling and scuba diving.

Gökçe Gemile has a range of fishing and water sports equipment so guests can enjoy the bays and coves at their leisure.

The deep, clear waters off Gökçe Gemile are rich in marine life; including, sea turtles, fish and sometimes a playful dolphin, or even the occasional octopus.

They are wonderful for sailing too and slightly off-shore there is the Gökçe Gemile yacht, aboard which guests are able to experience the joys of a day at sea.

The green pine forests that cover the headlands surrounding Gökçe Gemile contrast with the dramatic geography and the azure waters below. The expansive and breath-taking pine forests in this part of Turkey have a long history and owe their existence to the important role they have played in the rural economy for hundreds of years.
